No. 13 Richard Bland Rallies For Win At CCBC Catonsville (Md.) 64-63

CATONSVILLE, Md. -- Sophomore Gevon Arrington/Petersburg scored 17 points to lead No. 13 Richard Bland College to a 64-63 men's basketball road victory at CCBC Catonsville (Md.) on Monday night in Catonsville, Maryland. Sophomore Deandre Clark/Orange added 15 points, while classmate Jaquan Wooten/Kinston, North Carolina had 10 points for the visiting Statesmen (11-2), who rallied from a halftime deficit (29-27) for their seventh-straight win. Ke'Andre Gibson scored a game-high 21 points for the host Cardinals (7-4).

Richard Bland, ranked 13th in the most recent NJCAA Division II Top 20 Poll, jumped out to an early 8-2 lead at CCBC Catonsville. The Cardinals, however, battled back to lead by as many as 12 points in the first half. The Statesmen closed the opening 20 minutes strong, though trailing 29-27 at the intermission. The visitors continued their momentum in the second half, outscoring their hosts 37-34, while taking and maintaining an advantage to the final horn.

Arrington led Richard Bland with his team-high 17 points, including 10 second-half points, with three three-point field goals while adding six rebounds and three steals. Clark finished with 15 points for the Statesmen, including a trio of three-pointers, as well. Wooten had 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Freshman Robert Smith/Hampton and sophomore Myles Markland/Petersburg added six points and five points, respectively. Freshman Ricky Hicks/Bronx, New York contributed two points, eight assists and three steals.

Gibson led CCBC Catonsville with his game-high 21 points. Everette Coker added 19 points for the Cardinals.

Richard Bland will play one more game this week before the Christmas Holiday break, a Region X Conference road game at Vance-Granville (N.C.) Community College on Wednesday, December 14 at 6 p.m. in Henderson, North Carolina.
