Through 22 games, Richard Bland has been led in scoring by 6-4 sophomore guard Robert Smith/Hampton, who is averaging 18.0 points and 6.4 rebounds.  Smith is followed by 6-2 sophomore guard Tim Bing Jr./Suitland, Maryland (11.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists), local 6-7 sophomore forward Stanley Taylor/Petersburg (9.5 points, 7.0 rebounds), 6-3 sophomore guard Tre' Patterson/Richmond (8.2 points, 4.1 rebounds), 6-6 freshman forward Kenny Southerland/Richmond (7.8 points, 8.1 rebounds) and 6-0 sophomore guard Ricky Hicks/Bronx, New York (7.0 points, 5.2 assists).  The Statesmen are ranked 19th nationally in scoring (88.7), while Hicks is ranked 32nd nationally in assists per game.

Looking at the Red Hawks
Catawba Valley currently stands eighth in the Region 10 standings.  The Red Hawks are coached by seventh-year head coach Bryan Garmroth, and are led in scoring by 5-11 freshman guard Tyrell Oglesby (15.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists).

Autism Awareness
Scores of college basketball coaches, including our coaching staff at Richard Bland, will wear Autism Speaks blue puzzle-piece pins this weekend (February 9-11), when the organization teams up with NCAA Basketball for Autism Speaks Coaches Powering Forward.  The annual campaign enlists coaches, teams, schools, broadcasters and fans to raise awareness and funds for Autism Speaks, which is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of people with autism and their families.  Fans can join the campaign and receive pins by registering at AutismSpeaks.org/coaches.  Go to AutismSpeaks.org to learn more, donate or join a fundraising walk.
