Nationally Ranked Salkehatchie Downs Statesmen

WALTERBORO, SC - After facing USC Salkehatchie for the second time this season, the Statesmen are now 0-2 against the No. 18 nationally ranked basketball team. While RBC was able to put pressure on the Indians in the first half, the end result was a 103-56 win for Salkehatchie on their home turf. 

After Saturday's decision, the Statesmen move to 11-13 on the season and will host Spartanburg Methodist on Tuesday, February 18 at 7 p.m. 

While Salkehatchie established a 10-2 lead over the Statesmen in the first four minutes of the game, Derrick Redmon scored five points for RBC in an effort to close the lead. Redmon would go on to have 10 points in Saturday's contest. After the first half, Salkehatchie was up 56-27. The Indians experienced more resistance with offensive efforts from Antonio Puaauli-Pelham with 14 points and Kenneth Southerland with 13 points. In the second half, Salkehatchie went out in front of the Statesmen and took a 76-45 lead. With nine and a half minutes left in the game, Salkehatchie poured on another 27 points to come out on top.
