Kawa Leads Statesmen in Men’s Basketball Road Loss

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team moves to 1-4 overall after traveling to Harford Community College for a nonconference contest Wednesday evening.

 

Trailing by eight, 32-40, at the break, Richard Bland went on to score 37 points in the second half, but it would not be enough. Their efforts fell short dropping a 69-80 road loss to the Fighting Owls. Three Statesmen tallied double-digit figures in the loss. Martin Kawa led the way with 16 points, five rebounds, three steals, one assist, and one block. Mekhi Phipps-Dedrick chipped in with 13 points, six rebounds, six steals, one assist, and one block. Larry Howell was credited with 12 points, nine rebounds, two blocks, and one assist. Jalen Smith tallied seven points, and Tim Robinson and Brandon Hendryx had six each.

 

Richard Bland shot 74.3% from the charity stripe and 35.6% from the field.

 

The Richard Bland College men's basketball team next travels to CCBC Catonsville for the Baltimore City Mixer on Friday, November 17th and Saturday, November 18th. Richard Bland will take on Howard Community College at 5pm on Friday, and the hosts, Cardinals, at 3pm on Saturday.
