Men’s Basketball Picks Up Road Win in Maryland

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team moves to 2-5 overall after traveling to Catonsville, Maryland for day two of the Baltimore City Mixer Saturday afternoon. The Statesmen closed the tournament against the hosts, CCBC Catonsville, winning 87-74.

 

Holding a 14 point lead, 42-28, at the break, Richard Bland went on to score 45 points in the second half, to earn the nonconference victory. Five Statesmen tallied double-digit figures in the loss. Mekhi Phipps-Dedrick and Martin Kawa led the way matching at 16 points. Phipps-Dedrick also had five rebounds, four assists, and two steals, while Kawa added four assists, four steals, and three rebounds. Larry Howell tallied 14 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one block in the win. Tim Robinson and Imani Anderson had 11 points each and tallied nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals together. Jalen Smith chipped in with nine points, five boards, two blocks, and one assist, while Brandon Hendryx had eight points and eight rebounds in the win.

 

Richard Bland shot 79.3% from the charity stripe, 54.7% from the field, and 33.3% from the perimeter.

 

The Richard Bland College men's basketball team next travels to Virginia State University on Tuesday, November 21st for a contest with their JV squad. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
