Kourouma Leads Statesmen in Men’s Basketball Defeat

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team moves to 3-6 overall after traveling to CCBC Dundalk Wednesday evening for a nonconference contest with the Lions.

 

Leading by a narrow eight point margin, 30-21 at the break, the CCBC Dundalk Lions went on to outscore the Statesmen by one point in the second half, to hold onto a 10 point, 68-58 victory. Three Statesmen tallied double-digit figures in the win. Ibrahim Kourouma led the way for Richard Bland with 16 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Martin Kawa followed closely behind with 14 points, three rebounds, two assists, and one block. Larry Howell chipped in with 11 points, eight rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block. Off the bench, Mekhi Phipps-Dedrick tallied seven points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

 

Richard Bland shot 42.1% from the charity stripe, 47.8% from the field, and 60.0% from the perimeter.

 

The Richard Bland College men's basketball team next hosts USC Salkehatchie on Saturday, December 2nd at 3pm to open conference play. The Statesmen will also host Denmark Technical College in a conference contest on Sunday, December 3rd at 3pm.
