Statesmen Battle with Nationally Ranked Storm

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team moves to 6-10 overall, 2-2 in conference play after hosting #2 Davidson-Davie Community College Wednesday evening.

 

The Statesmen dropped a tough, 63-69 battle to the nationally ranked division II, Storm. Richard Bland trailed by five, 29-34 at the break, and continued to fight in the second half, but would be outscored by one, to fall to the Cobras in the region matchup.

 

Martin Kawa led the way with 16 points, seven assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Larry Howell added 13 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Ibrahim Kourouma chipped in with 12 points, five assists, three rebounds, two steals, and one block. Off the bench, Imani Anderson and Rodney Willis Jr. added nine and eight points respectively. Jalen Smith led the boards with seven in the loss.

 

Richard Bland shot 71.4% from the charity stripe, 42.4% from the field, and 27.3% from the perimeter.

 

The Richard Bland College men's basketball team next hosts Spartanburg Methodist College on Sunday, January 14th in a 3pm conference contest.
