Hendryx Leads Statesmen in Men’s Basketball Defeat

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team moves to 6-11 overall, 2-3 in conference play after hosting the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist College Sunday afternoon.

 

The Statesmen dropped a tough, 75-79 battle, after trailing by five, 32-37 at the break. Richard Bland continued to fight in the second half and outscored the Pioneers by one, but it was not enough to hold on for the win.

 

Brandon Hendryx led the way for Richard Bland with 20 points and five rebounds. Martin Kawa added 16 points, five rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Ibrahim Kourouma chipped in with nine points and two rebounds. Larry Howell led the boards with eight, and tallied six points, four assists, and one steal. Off the bench, Rodney Willis Jr. had six points and three rebounds in the loss.

 

Richard Bland shot 81.3% from the charity stripe, 44.4% from the field, and 26.3% from the perimeter.

 

The Richard Bland College men's basketball team next travels to Wake Technical Community College this evening, for a 7pm matchup with the Eagles.
