Statesmen Pick Up Big Win Over Dolphins in Men’s Hoops

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Men's Basketball team moves to 10-12 overall, 5-4 in conference play after hosting the Dolphins of Brunswick Community College Saturday afternoon.

 

Both teams showed a strong start, battling back and forth through the first half and putting the Dolphins ahead by two at the break. The Statesmen went on to outscore the Dolphins by 12 points, to earn a big, 75-65 conference win at home.

 

Four Statesmen had double-digit figures in the win led by Martin Kawa with 21 points. Tim Robinson had a strong showing posting his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 boards for the Statesmen. Jalen Smith tallied 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists, three steals, and one block, while Ibrahim Kourouma added 13 points, six rebounds, and three steals in the win. Larry Howell chipped in with eight points and six rebounds, and Rodney Willis Jr. had two points and one rebound. Imani Anderson notched three rebounds on the day.

 

Richard Bland went 70.4% from the charity stripe, 44.8% from the field, and 26.7% from the perimeter.

 

The Richard Bland College men's basketball team next hosts Wake Technical Community College on Wednesday, February 7th at 7pm.
