Richard Bland Competes At District | Frankie Lin A National Qualifier

BREWTON, Ala. -- Richard Bland College freshman men's golf standout Frankie Lin/Kaohsiung City, Taiwan posted a 54-hole score of three-over par 72-72-75--219 to finish in a tie for sixth place at the NJCAA District 4 Championship Monday and Tuesday at the 7,019-yard, par 72 Country Club of Brewton in Brewton, Alabama.  Lin qualified for the 2017 NJCAA Division I Men's Golf National Championship to be played May 16-19 at the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City, Kansas.

The Statesmen competed with three individuals at the District event, as Lin, who was named to the All-District Team, was followed by sophomores Sam Smith/Chesterfield (79-75-77--231, T-25th) and Zack Almarode/Hendersonville, Tennessee (87-81-90--258, 47th).  Lin's three-day total of 219 is a new program record for 54 holes, Smith's score is his season-best, while Almarode posted a collegiate-best for three rounds.  Lin tied with two golfers from Spartanburg Methodist College as the highest finishing Region 10 individuals at the event.

Eastern Florida State College won the District 4 team title with its impressive two-over par 297-291-278--866, and Chip Willoughby of Wallace State (Ala.) Community College was the individual medalist with his outstanding four-under par 70-74-68--212.
