WILMINGTON, N.C. – Freshman Miguel Ramos/Casal de Cambra, Portugal and sophomore Tulia Graciano/Cacapava, Brazil each scored goals to lead Richard Bland College to a 2-0 Region X Conference shutout victory at Cape Fear (N.C.) Community College on Saturday evening in Wilmington, North Carolina. Freshmen Dusan Stankovic/Belgrade, Serbia and Reuben Bosompem/Alexandria each added assists for the visiting Statesmen (3-1-0, 2-1-0 Region X) against the host Sea Devils (1-1-0, 1-1-0 Region X). RBC will return home to welcome defending NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer National Champion and Region X Conference opponent Louisburg (N.C.) College on Tuesday, September 6 at Statesman Field at 4 p.m.

"It was a great day for our team as a whole today," said first-year assistant coach Nick Surkamp. "Anytime you limit a team to just three shots throughout a match, you can be proud with the way you competed for the full 90 minutes. Our first goal was beautiful and our second goal was deserved. I'm very happy for our team because Cape Fear was a difficult team to play against and it is always tough to get points on the road in this league.

"It's going to be a challenge on Tuesday when the reigning national champions come to campus. I believe that our team will be up to the challenge and I'm looking forward to seeing the entire campus there to support the program. We are hoping to make it a great day for all Statesmen!"

Richard Bland led 1-0 at the intermission at Cape Fear after the first-half goal from Ramos at 25:52, assisted by Stankovic. It was the first collegiate goal for Ramos, as well as the first collegiate assist for Stankovic.

The Statesmen added to their advantage with another goal about midway through the second half when Graciano tallied his goal at 65:29, assisted by Bosompem. It was the first RBC goal scored by Graciano, while also the first collegiate assist for Bosompem.

Freshman goalkeeper Justin Ennis/Gainesville started and played the entire 90 minutes in front of the net for RBC, recording one save while posting his first collegiate shutout.

Richard Bland took a 17-3 advantage in shots against the Sea Devils, including 7-1 in attempts on goal. The Statesmen had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
