ALLENDALE, S.C. -- Freshman Hussein Osman/Charlottesville scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead No. 5 seed Richard Bland College to a 1-0 Region X Men's Soccer Tournament Quarterfinal victory at No. 4 seed USC Salkehatchie on Wednesday afternoon in Allendale, South Carolina. Sophomore Sukrija Dudic/Richmond provided the assist on the golden goal for the visiting Statesmen (11-6-1) against the host Indians (8-10-1). Richard Bland advances to a Region X Tournament Semifinal contest against No. 1 seed Louisburg (N.C.) College on Saturday, October 29, at 5 p.m. at the WRAL Soccer Park in Raleigh, North Carolina.

"We had the right attitude and patience to breakdown their defense," said third-year head coach Eduardo de Souza. "We (myself and assistant coach Nick Surkamp) are very proud of the team performance today. We played with tactical discipline and we deserve to advance to the tournament semifinals."

Richard Bland and USC Salkehatchie battled scoreless through 90 minutes of regulation before Osman tallied the decisive goal four minutes into the first 10-minute extra period. Dudic began with possession on the winning play and beat three defenders on the right flank before sending the cross into the box for Osman, who gained control and beat the goalkeeper with his shot into the back of the net. It was the third goal of the season for Osman, and the third assist for Dudic.

Freshman keeper Tomas Fonseca/Torres Vedras, Portugal started in front of the net for the Statesmen and played the entire 90 minutes, making one save while posting his second shutout this season.

Richard Bland took a 10-2 advantage in shots at USC Salkehatchie, including 5-1 in attempts on goal. The Statesmen had a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.

Richard Bland established a new school record for season wins (11) with the road triumph.
