Afful Scores Hat Trick in Win Over Union

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Men's Soccer team moves to 7-2-1 overall and 7-2 in conference play after their tenth game of the 2021 season.

The men's soccer team traveled USC Union for a conference match this morning.

Julian Rivera was the first to strike on the day with an unassisted goal in the 36^th minute. In the 40^th minute, Union found the back of the net to level the score 1-1 heading into halftime.

Putting the Statesmen ahead 2-1, Matthew Lewis added a marker in the 50^th minute, followed by Nolan Wyss less than a minute later, to bring the Statesmen ahead, 3-1. Moses Mora added a tally in the 53^rd minute, Mathew Lewis added his second on the day in the 57^th minute, and Michael Afful found the back of the net in the 60^th minute. Union fought back and added a second tally to bring the score 6-2 Statesmen, but it wouldn't be enough. Michael Afful added 2 more tallies for a hat trick to end regulation, 8-2 Statesmen.

Cristian Rodriguez and Zachary Degrauwe were credited with 3 saves each.
