SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Men's Soccer team moves to 10-4-1 overall after defeating USC Lancaster in the Region 10 Division I Championship match this afternoon.
The Statesmen traveled to USC Lancaster and came out victorious, 3-1 in regulation.
Richard Bland was first to get on the board in the 17th minute off a Nelsar Castillo freekick. The Lancers evened the game 1-1, in the 28th minute on a penalty kick from a handball inside of the Statesmen box. The score remained 1-1 through the rest of the first half.
In the 80th minute, Michael Afful found the back of the net and would add another tally shortly after for a 3-1 Statesmen lead through the end of regulation.
With today's championship win, the men's soccer team will host the Daytona State Falcons in the Southeast District Finals on Saturday November 6th.
