Statesmen Fall in District Final

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Men's Soccer team finishes the season at 10-5-1 overall after falling to Daytona State 3-2, in the Southeast District Championship this afternoon.

The Statesmen hosted Daytona State College Falcons for an early kickoff.

Andrew Retmier found the back of the net in the 5^th minute of the game off a pass from Nelsar Catillo to put the Statesmen ahead 1-0. Daytona State fought back and evened the game in the 15^th minute.  Michael Afful found a gap in the Falcon defense and put the Statesmen ahead 2-1 on the breakaway attack in the 20^th minute. Daytona State would tally 2 more goals before the end of the first half and the score would remain 3-2 through regulation.

The Richard Bland College men's soccer team ends the season at 10-5-1 overall and 8-4 in conference play. The Statesmen finished as this year's Region 10 Division I Champions.
