Men’s Soccer Picks Up Conference Win on the Road

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College men's soccer team moves to 2-0 overall, and in conference play after picking up a 3-1 win on the road over Spartanburg Methodist College Tuesday afternoon.

 

Neville Assoti put the Statesmen on the board in the 36th minute off a ball from Jeffrey Espinoza, to put Richard Bland ahead 1-0. The score remained 1-0 through the remainder of the first half. In the 57th minute, the Pioneers leveled the game, 1-1. Five minutes later, Nicholas Ihnat pushed one past the Pioneer keeper to regain the lead, 2-1. Edgar Jose Reboredo Martins would seal the win tallying one of his own from Ian MacArthur in the 64th minute, to bring home the 3-1 conference win.

 

Thomas Seymour was credited with two saves in regulation. Ihnat led with three shots on goal, followed by Assoti with two.

 

The Richard Bland men's soccer team next travels to Southwest Virginia Community College on Saturday, September 2nd for a conference contest. Kickoff is set for 1pm.
