Men’s Soccer Rebounds With Win Over Bantams

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College men's soccer team moves to 9-2-3 overall, 7-2-2 in conference play after hosting USC Union in a conference contest Sunday afternoon.

 

Nicholas Ihnat put the Statesmen on the board early in the 13th minute, connecting on a ball from Seraphim Davis. Seven minutes later, Ruben Santos teamed up with Edgar Jose Reboredo Martins for a Martins tally to put the Statesmen ahead 2-0. In the 22nd minute, Santos and Martins teamed up again for a Santos tally. USC Union would put up their lone goal in the 29th minute, and the score remained 3-1 heading into the half. Richard Bland found the back of the net one more time, in the 63rd minute, when Nate Newberry threw the ball into Daniel Nunfio who lofted the ball over the keeper to seal the win for Richard Bland.

 

Thomas Seymour earned the start between the pipes and was credited with eight saves in 75 minutes of play. Mason Dycus earned one save in the final 15 minutes of regulation. Richard Bland had 14 shots on the day.

 

The Richard Bland men's soccer team next hosts Southwest Virginia Community College on Friday, October 13th at 1pm.
