Men’s Soccer Places Six on All-Region Team
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Men's Soccer team moves to 13-3-3 overall after defeating USC Lancaster in the Region 10 Division I Championship Saturday afternoon, while landing six spots among the Region 10 All-Region Teams.
Edgar Jose Reboredo Martins, Ruben Santos, Eric Calderon, and Nicholas Ihnat earned 1st team honors, with Nate Newberry earning 2nd team, and Connor Nickerson earning honorable mention.
Sophomore, defender Edgar Jose Reboredo Martins has started all 18 games played for the Statesmen. Martins notched five goals and two assists for 12 total points. Martins is credited with eight shots, three on goal for a .625 SH% and .375 SOG%. He has been a key component of the back line, assisting with saves on many different occasions.
Sophomore, defender Ruben Santos has started all 19 games for the Statesmen. Santos has tallied two goals and four assists for eight points. Santos is credited with three shots for a .667 SH% and has been a key component of the back line.
Freshman, midfielder Eric Calderon has started 17 of 18 games played for Richard Bland. Calderon has four goals and six assists for 14 points. Calderon has tallied seven shots, for a .571 SH%. Two of his goals have also been game-winning goals.
Sophomore, midfielder Nicholas Ihnat has started 15 of 18 games played for Richard Bland. He currently leads the team with 11 goals and three assists for 25 points. With 13 shots, he holds a .846 SH%. Six of his goals have been game-winning markers.
Freshman, defender Nate Newberry has started all 18 games played for the Statesmen. He has tallied one goal and five assists for seven points. Newberry has one shot for 1.000 SH%.
Freshman, defender Connor Nickerson has started all 18 games played for the Statesmen. He has tallied one marker for two points and has been a key component in the Statesmen back line.
Richard Bland men's soccer will host the Southeast District for an automatic bid to the National Tournament at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kansas November 12-18, 2023.
