ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT HOLDS ANNUAL BANQUET
PETERSBURG, VA, April 27, 2014- Richard Bland College has almost completed its first year for athletics, however, there are two remaining sports that are vying to advance in the post season. The Statesmen honored all student-athletes and their parents for a very successful year of academic and athletic excellence.
The very first individuals mentioned were those who made the Athletic Director's Academic Excellence list. The student-athletes on that particular list maintained a grade point average of at least a 3.0 or better. The 12 athletes were a representation of the seven sports offered at Richard Bland College.
Athletic Director Chuck Moore addressed the crowd of over 80 attendees about the expectations on and off the court for the student-athletes. The administration was represented by the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Richard Bland College, Chandragupta Gudena who made closing remarks to the student-athletes.
The following persons to receive recognition for achievement in their prospective sport were:

Coaches Award- Evan Bates
Defensive Award- Melvin Gregory
Women's Track & Field
MVP- Cassandra Nnaji
Men's Track & Field
MVP- Joshua Washington
Coaches Award- Adrain Jackson
RBC Female & Male Athlete of the Year
Taylor Slate- Women's Softball
Carleton Anderson- Men's Soccer
