WASHINGTON NEARLY MISSES THE USA JUNIOR NATIONAL TEAM

EUGENE, OREGON, July 6, 2014- Richard Bland College's Joshua Washington represented the Statesmen Track and Field team in Eugene, Oregon, in hopes to landing a spot in the USA Junior National team. After running a 20.98 in the prelims (200 meters) to qualify for the finals, he improved his time to a 20.97, however, he finished sixth in the nation.

"Josh worked really hard and really deserved this opportunity", said Head Coach Matt High. "This was a great experience for him and he battled against some of the country's best athletes, I am very proud of him and what he has accomplished so far in his college career". The meet was a high caliber arena to be involved in. Usain Bolt ran there and still holds the world record with a time of 19.93 some ten years ago.

Washington will return to Richard Bland in the fall to study and prepare for next season in hopes to obtaining more team goals for the Richard Bland College Statesman track and field team.
