VCU Indoor Invitational Results

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland men and women indoor track and field teams traveled to Virginia Beach, VA Sunday afternoon for the VCU Rams Indoor Invitational 2024, hosted by VCU, at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.

Men:

Colby Kynard: 400 Meters 7^th place – 51.72

Peter Barnett: 400 Meters 12^th place – 53.90, 800 Meters 12^th place – 2:20.31

Jerry Hamilton: 800 Meters 9^th place – 2:10.79, 1 Mile 8^th place – 4:56.74

Deonte Harris: Long Jump 7^th place – 20'10.75", Triple Jump 8^th place – 44'0"

Patrick Taylor: Weight Throw 4^th place – 42'7.5"

Women:

Haniyyah Johnson: Long Jump 2^nd place – 19'2.75"

Akira Hamilton: 60 Meters 5^th place – 7.73, 200 Meters 21^st place – 26.60

Jayla Werts: 400 Meters 2^nd place – 59.77

Ciarra Moore: Long Jump 9^th place – 16'7", Triple Jump 6^th place – 35'11.5"

Leenesa Whittaker: 60 Meters 6^th place – 7.75, 200 Meters 7^th place – 25.88

Erin Smith: Triple Jump 9^th place – 34'6.25"

As of Monday, January 8, 2024, two females have qualified for NJCAA Indoor Nationals which will take place on March 1^st and 2^nd in Gainesville, Florida. Haniyyah Johnson has qualified inthe long jump event, and Akira Hamilton has qualified in the 60 meters.

Next up for the Richard Bland track and field team is the 2024 VMI Team Challenge on Saturday, January 20^th. The event will take place at the Virginia Military Institute Corps Physical Training Facility.
