SOFTBALL TO HOST SURRY IN HOME OPENER ON SATURDAY

PETERSBURG, Va. – After weeks of games being cancelled and postponed due to the winter weather, the Richard Bland College softball team will return to action on Saturday, Mar. 7th when they play host to the Knights of Surry Community College in a Region X doubleheader on Softball Field.

The Statesmen enter the contest with a 1-6 mark on the season. Prince George product, Whitney Clements paces RBC at the plate with a .389 batting average while Cindy Allen (Gloucester) and Erin Forbes (Camden, NC) follow with .375 and .318, respectively.

 

Clements has one homerun on the season and leads the team in RBI's with four following Forbes with two and Hannah Barnes (Emporia, VA), Haley Olson (Hermitage) and Kristin Saunders (New Kent) with one apiece.

 

The meeting will be the first between both teams this season, as this game will be the first for the Knights on the season.
