TWO STATESMEN NAMED TO NFCA 2015 NJCAA DII ALL-REGION TEAMS

LOUISVILLE, Ky.  – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has announced the 2015 National Junior College Athletic Association Division II All-Region teams. Richard Bland College's Tara Heatwole and Amanda Archer both earned recognition on this year's team.

 

Heatwole, a recent graduate of Richard Bland and softball student-athlete, played an integral role in the Statesmen regular-season championship title for its second consecutive year and a runner-up finish in the Region X DII Softball Tournament. She posted a 13-5 record on the mound to lead the Statesmen pitching staff allowing  139 hits, 67 runs, 27 walks and 128 strikeouts over 140.1 innings pitched. Heatwole was selected All-Region X First Team and All-Region X All-Tournament Team.

 

Archer, a rising sophomore and member of the Statesmen softball team posted a team-high four home runs on the season. She charted a batting average of .397, including an on-base percentage of .455 and .603 slugging percentage. The Amelia, Va., native earned All-Region X First Team recognition this season for the Statesmen.

 

Overall, 51 players from 24 different institutions comprised first-team squads chosen from the East, Midwest and South Regions.

All first team All-Region choices are eligible to be considered for the NFCA NJCAA Division II All-America teams, which will be announced on June 5 via NFCA.org.
