SOFTBALL TO HOST BREAST CANCER AWARENESS GAME ON APRIL 9

PETERSBURG, Va., (March 22, 2016) -- The Richard Bland College softball team will host a Breast Cancer Awaresness Game on April 9 at Noon against Region X Conference rival Surry Community College at Statesman Field.

The Statesmen will be wearing pink "Strikeout Cancer" t-shirts during the doubleheader and proceeds from the sale of "Strikeout Cancer" t-shirts will be donated to Relay for Life in Petersburg, Va.

T-shirts are $15.00 and those pre-ordereded by March 29 can be picked up prior to the game by emailing Assistant Softball Coach Rachael Mack at rmack@rbc.edu. Sizes run from small to 4XL. T-shirts can also be ordered on-line at http://mooredesigns.storenvy.com/ and will be available for pickup at the game if ordered by March 29. 

"In our ongoing community outreach efforts in the Tri-Cities area, we are excited to be hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness Game," said Chuck Moore, Director of Athletics at Richard Bland College. "Our student-athletes are extremely committed to this cause and I am proud of their fundraising efforts. The game is an excellent opportunity for the area to visit our campus, watch our outstanding softball team compete and wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness."

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's largest fundraising effort to end cancer. Dollars raised help the American Cancer Society save lives by supporting education and prevention efforts, funding groundbreaking cancer research and providiing free information and services for people with cancer who need them.
