Softball Struggles to Find Groove Against Hurricanes

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College softball team moves to 5-13 overall and 5-11 in conference play after traveling to Louisburg College

 

In game one, Richard Bland fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 0-22 loss to Louisburg College Sunday afternoon. Richard Bland struggled to contain the high-powered offense of the Hurricanes, giving up 22 runs. Louisburg got on the board in the first inning. Jayanna Richards's wild pitch allowed one run to score for the Hurricanes. A single by Shelby Godfrey in the first inning was a positive for Richard Bland. Casey Hart, Emma Fleming, and Godfrey each collected one hit to lead Richard Bland. Richards was in the pitcher's circle for Richard Bland. Richards lasted on and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and six runs while walking one. Maggie Linthicum and Jenna Nicolski entered the game as relief, throwing one and one0third innings and one inning respectively.

 

In game two, Richard Bland fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 0-11 loss to Louisburg. Richard Bland didn't commit a single error in the field. Gracie Fisher had the most chances in the field with six. Casey Hart was on the rubber for the Statesmen. The pitcher surrendered 11 runs on 12 hits over four innings, striking out four and walking one.

 

The Richard Bland College softball team next travels to Bryant & Stratton College (VA) on Wednesday, March 29th. The doubleheader is set to begin at 2pm.
