Softball Loses Lead Early in Defeat

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College softball team moves to 7-17 overall and 7-15 in conference play after hosting Brunswick Community College Sunday afternoon.

 

In game one, Richard Bland fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 2-11 loss to Brunswick Community College. The Dolphins opened up the scoring in the first inning, and scored eight runs in the third inning. Emma Fleming went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead the Statesmen in hits. Maggie Linthicum led things off on the rubber for the Statesmen. The righthander surrendered three runs on two hits over two innings. Jayanna Richards threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

 

In game two, Nothing came easy for Richard Bland as they fell 1-7 to Brunswick Community College. Catherine Bodsford, Lily Curtis, and Gracie Fisher each collected one hit to lead Richard Bland. Casey Hart started the game for the Statesmen. The pitcher went four innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out six. Lily Curtis threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

 

The Richard Bland College softball team next hosts Louisburg College on Wednesday, April 5th in a 3pm doubleheader.
