Softball Earns Sweep Over Trojans

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College softball team moves to 11-23 overall and 11-21 in conference play after hosting Fayetteville Technical Community College Friday afternoon.

 

In game one, Richard Bland defeated Fayetteville Tech 12-4, despite allowing a three-run inning. Richard Bland pulled away for good with six runs in the third inning. In the third Emma Fleming doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring three runs. Lily Curtis doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. Jenna Nicolski singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run, and a wild pitch by the Trojans scored one run for the Statesmen. Richard Bland smacked one home run in the game. Nicolski went yard in the fourth inning. Richard Bland totaled eight hits. Jahaira Medrano and Nicolski each collected two hits to lead the offense. Jayanna Richards was credited with the victory for Richard Bland. Richards went five innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking zero.

 

In game two, Richard Bland jumped out to an early lead to take down the Trojans, 7-1. Richard Bland had a strong start, scoring on a wild pitch to Shelby Godfrey and a double by Nicolski in the first inning. Richard Bland totaled 12 hits in the nightcap. Godfrey and Casey Hart each had three hits for Richard Bland. Hart had a four bagger in the third inning. Richard Bland was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Gracie Fisher made the most plays with 12. Casey Hart was the winning pitcher. Hart lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out two and walking one.

 

The Richard Bland College softball team next hosts Wake Technical Community College in their final doubleheader of the regular season on Sunday, April 23rd beginning at 1pm.
