Softball Forces Game 3 After Split With Bobcats

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College softball team moves to 14-24 overall after traveling to #3 Bryant & Stratton College (VA) in the first round of the Region 10 Tournament, Thursday afternoon. With the split, Richard Bland has forced a third game to get to the next round of the tournament.

 

In game one, Richard Bland fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 3-5 loss to the Bobcats. Bryant & Stratton College (VA) scored on an error and a single in the second inning to take the lead. Jahaira Medrano went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Richard Bland in hits. Jaynna Richards took the loss for Richard Bland. The righty allowed nine hits and five runs over six innings, striking out four and walking zero.

 

In game two, there were runs aplenty, as Richard Bland defeated the Bobcats 8-6. In the second inning, Richard Bland got the offense started when Jenna Nicolski homered on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs. Richard Bland scattered 11 hits in the game. Emma Fleming led Richard Bland with four hits in four at bats. Casey Hart led Richard Bland to victory in the circle. The southpaw went four innings, allowing three runs on two hits, striking out two and walking one. Maggie Linthicum and Lily Curtis entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

 

With the split this afternoon, the Richard Bland softball team prepares for game three of the first round series which is set for Tuesday, May 2nd at 2pm.
