Softball Ends Season Against Bobcats

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College softball team closes the season 14-25 overall, 14-22 in conference play after traveling to #3 Bryant & Stratton College (VA) in the first round of the Region 10 Tournament, Tuesday afternoon. The Statesmen and Bobcats split day one, forcing a third game to determine who moved on in the tournament. In game three, the Bobcats took over early, defeating Richard Bland 0-7.

 

Richard Bland watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in the 0-7 loss. Bryant & Stratton got things moving in the first inning scoring one run. Richard Bland struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Bobcats. One bright spot for the Statesmen was a single by Casey Hart in the second inning. Hart and Emma Fleming each managed one hit to lead Richard Bland. Hart started the game for Richard Bland. The lefty went one and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on three hits, striking out three and walking one. Jayanna Richards threw four and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
