Richards Commits to Virginia Union

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – Jayanna Richards, a member of the Richard Bland College softball team, has committed to continue her academic and athletic career at NCAA Division II, Virginia Union University, after just one season with Richard Bland.

The Gloucester, VA native has contributed to much success for the ninth year program. In her rookie campaign, Richards made 12 starts in 20 appearances on the mound. In 86.1 innings pitched, she was credited with 51 strikeouts, gave up 139 hits, and 93 runs for a 4.14 earned run average. Richards earned two wins, and six losses which include one complete game. She had 33 total catches, 13 putouts, 20 assists, and one double play to garner a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Virginia Union University is a Division II member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (CIAA).
