Big Inning Leads Hurricanes Past Statesmen

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Softball team moves to 16-17 overall after traveling to Louisburg, North Carolina for the double elimination, Region 10 Division II Softball Tournament.

 

In their third round game, the #6 Statesmen took on #1 Louisburg College. The Hurricanes scored eight runs in the third inning, which helped them defeat Richard Bland 1-14 Friday afternoon. The Hurricanes jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after a hit by pitch, two walks, and one error, totaling five runs scored. A walk extended the Hurricanes' lead to six in the bottom of the second inning. Louisburg scored eight runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Sara Graham took the loss for Richard Bland. The starting pitcher went two innings, giving up 14 runs on six hits, striking out three and walking nine. Jessica Taggart went 1-for-2 at the plate as the catcher led the team with on run batted in.
