Women’s Basketball Drops Battle With Eagles

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team moves to 1-2 overall, 1-2 in conference play after traveling to Wake Technical Community College for a conference contest Wednesday evening.

 

Richard Bland took an early 14-10 start through 10 minutes of play. The Statesmen and Eagles went on to match 15 points each in the second, for a 29-25 Statesmen lead at the break. Richard Bland outscored the Eagles by one in the third quarter, but the Eagles would take control in the final period to earn a 64-55 victory over Richard Bland.

 

Two Statesmen had double-digit points in the victory. Kennedee Matthews led the way with 14 points, followed by Cierra McGinlay with 11. Matthews also added two rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block, while McGinlay added five rebounds and one steal. Chamara Martin and Alia Carmichael added eight points each, and totaled eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals together. Anaya Lilly chipped in with seven points and two steals in the loss.

 

Richard Bland shot 57.1% from the charity stripe and 25.7% from the field.

 

The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next hosts Brunswick Community College on Friday, November 17th in a 6pm contest.
