Statesmen Bow to Bobcats at Home

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team moves to 6-4 overall, 6-4 in conference play after hosting the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton College (VA) Wednesday evening.

 

Richard Bland took a narrow, one point, 15-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. After a few Statesmen turnovers, the Bobcats managed to tie the game at 28 heading into the half. Bryant & Stratton came out hot in the third quarter scoring 25 points to pull ahead by 15 points after three quarters. The Statesmen added 10 more points in the fourth quarter but it would not be enough, in the 48-68 loss.

 

Two Statesmen had double-digit points in the victory. Kennedee Matthews led the way with 15 points, followed by Amari Hunter with 13, Cierra McGinlay ewith eight, and Chamara Martin four. Nyomi Ndango and Merceds Gaither chipped in with three points each, and Khamaya Earley had two in the loss.

 

Richard Bland shot 50.0% from the charity stripe, 47.8% from the field, and 66.7% from the perimeter.

 

The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next travels to Southwest Virginia Community College on Saturday, January 20th for a 1pm contest.
