Women’s Basketball Scores Big on the Road

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team moves to 8-5 overall, 8-5 in conference play after traveling to Johnston Community College Sunday afternoon.

 

Natayvia Lipscomb hit an opening three pointer to give the Statesmen an early lead, and they did not look back from there. Richard Bland tallied 27 points in the first quarter, 21 in the second, 20 in the third, and 24 in the fourth to bring home the 92-70 victory.

 

Five Statesmen had double-digit points in the victory. Lipscomb and Khamaya Earley had 14 points each, along with five and seven rebounds respectively. Chamara Martin chipped in with 11 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Kennedee Matthews and Cierra McGinlay added 10 points each. Matthews also had seven assists, five rebounds, two steals, and one block, while McGinlay was credited with four rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Amari Hunter added six points, five assists, four rebounds, and three steals, while Alicia Powers had four points and four rebounds, and Reiley Gibson two points and one rebound.

 

Richard Bland shot 93.8% from the charity stripe.

 

The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next travels to Louisburg College on Wednesday, January 31st for a conference contest. Tip-off is set for 5pm.
