Statesmen Fight Off Louisburg Rally for Conference Win

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team moves to 9-5 overall, 9-5 in conference play after traveling to Louisburg College Wednesday evening for a conference contest.

 

Nyomi Ndango put the Statesmen on the board first with an opening three pointer to start the game. Richard Bland trailed through the first, second, and third quarters by as much as 14. In the fourth quarter, the Statesmen kicked it into high gear and scored 30 points, to their opponents five, in a 73-62 road win.

 

Four Statesmen had double-digit figures in the victory. Amari Hunter led the way with 19 points, three rebounds, and two steals. Off the bench, Cierra McGinlay tallied 13 points and six boards. Kennedee Matthews and Natayvia Lipscomb added 0 points each, along with three and two rebounds respectively. Ndango chipped in with five points and five rebounds, and Chamara Martin four points, four rebounds, four assists, and one steal. Khamaya Earley and Reiley Gibson tallied two points each, and Alicia Powers, Kaleigh Snipes, and Mercedes Gaither totaled eight rebounds.

 

Richard Bland shot 88.9% from the charity stripe, 57.1% from the field, and 45.0% from the perimeter.

 

The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next hosts Guilford Technical Community College on Friday, February 2nd at 6pm.
