Bobcats Fourth Quarter Surge Proves Costly in Women’s Basketball Loss

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team moves to 13-6 overall, 13-6 in conference play after traveling to Bryant & Stratton College (VA) Monday evening for their second meeting of the season.

 

Richard Bland got out to a hot start outscoring the Bobcats by three in the first quarter and one in the second, to hold a four point, 38-34 lead at the break. The Bobcats came out strong in the final frame adding 22 points, while the Statesmen could only get four on the board, and eventually fell, 58-70 on the road.

 

Nyomi Ndango led the way with 10 points, five rebounds, three steals, two assists, and one block. Kennedee Matthews, Amari Hunter, and Natayvia Lipscomb had nine points each. Matthews also added two rebounds, two steals, and one assist. Hunter had five steals, three rebounds, and three assists, and Lipscomb added five rebounds in the loss. Cierra McGinlay chipped in with eight points and eight boards, and Khamaya Earley six points and four rebounds for Richard Bland.

 

Richard Bland shot 72.7% from the charity stripe, 45.8% from the field, and 46.2% from the perimeter.

 

The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next hosts Wake Technical Community College on Wednesday, February 21st at 7pm. Prior to the game, the women's basketball team will honor their sophomores for their efforts during their careers at Richard Bland.
