Three Statesmen Score Double-Digits in Conference Loss

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Women's Basketball team moves to 15-8 overall, 15-8 in conference play after traveling to Southwest Virginia Community College Wednesday afternoon.

 

Richard Bland jumped out to an early five point lead through the first 10 minutes of play. The Statesmen went into the break leading by seven, 39-32. The Flying Eagles took over opening the third period hot scoring 28 points, and an additional 29 in the final frame, as the Statesmen fell 73-89 on the road.

 

Three Statesmen tallied double-digit figures in the win led by Kennedee Matthews with 28 points and five assists. Amari Hunter chipped in with 17 points, four assists, three steals, and one rebound, while Cierra McGinlay added 16 points in the loss. Chamara Martin tallied six points, Natayvia Lipscomb four, and Reiley Gibson two, while Nyomi Ndango grabbed six boards on the day.

 

Richard Bland shot 100.0% from the charity stripe, 49.0% from the field, and 48.3% from the perimeter.

 

The Richard Bland College women's basketball team next hosts Louisburg College in their final regular season outing on Friday, March 1st at 7pm. Following the final game of the regular season, Richard Bland will then host the first round of the Region 10 Tournament on Monday, March 4th at 6pm. Opponent is to be determined.
