Region 10 DII Women's Basketball Region Awards
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The second year women's basketball program, finished the regular season with a record of 15-9 overall, 15-9 in conference play. After their loss to Louisburg College in the final game of the regular season, the women's basketball team was named the #6 seed heading into the Region 10 South Atlantic District Tournament coming up next week.
Saturday morning, the Region 10 Division II All-Region teams were announced. Kennedee Matthews is the lone Statesman who has earned 1st Team All-Region 10 honors.
Sophomore point guard Kennedee Matthews has started all 24 games. She averages 17.9 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, 49.3 fg%, 41.8 3pt%, and 83.7 ft%. Matthews has 429 total points, 81 total rebounds, 75 assists, 45 steals, and five blocks. Kennedee has tallied double digit figures in 22 of 24 games for the Statesmen. Her best outing was on November 17th against Brunswick Community College tallying 34 points. She went 4-9 at the perimeter and 15-24 from the field. Matthews will be looked at to continue leading and producing as the team heads into the Region 10 Tournament next week.
