Women's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Draw

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Women's Soccer team moves to 0-0-1 after their first game of the 2021 season.

The women's soccer team traveled to Louisburg, NC for a nonconference matchup with Louisburg College.

 The game was held even until the 34th minute, when Louisburg College struck one between the pipes off of a corner kick. At the end of the first half, and thunder delay, Richard Bland trailed 0-1.

 As the second half began, Richard Bland had a great deal of momentum pressing the opponents' defensive line. In the 46th minute, Gabriella Sylstra struck one past the Louisburg keeper making it an even game.

After 110 minutes played, the score remained even at 1-1 and resulted in a draw.

Tiffany Hargett made 20 saves in the double overtime tie. Sylstra had 6 shots, 4 on goal, while Jennifer Argueta and Stephanie Curtis had 1 shot each.

Richard Bland women's soccer next plays Saturday August 28, against Denmark Technical College at 1pm to open conference play.
