Women's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Draw

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Women's Soccer team moves to 0-0-1 after their first game of the 2021 season.

The women's soccer team traveled to Louisburg, NC for a nonconference matchup with Louisburg College.

 The game was held even until the 34^th minute, when Louisburg College struck one between the pipes off of a corner kick. At the end of the first half, and thunder delay, Richard Bland trailed 0-1.

 As the second half began, Richard Bland had a great deal of momentum pressing the opponents' defensive line. In the 46^th minute, Gabriella Sylstra struck one past the Louisburg keeper making it an even game.

After 110 minutes played, the score remained even at 1-1 and resulted in a draw.

Tiffany Hargett made 20 saves in the double overtime tie. Sylstra had 6 shots, 4 on goal, while Jennifer Argueta and Stephanie Curtis had 1 shot each.

Richard Bland women's soccer next plays Saturday August 28, against Denmark Technical College at 1pm to open conference play.
