Sylstra Scores Hat Trick in Conference Win

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Women's Soccer team moves to 1-4 overall, and 1-2 in conference play after a conference matchup with Denmark Technical College this afternoon.

 

Starting the scoring early, Gabriella Sylstra found the back of the net off a pass from Jennifer Argueta in the second minute of the game. A minute and a half later, Gabriella Sylstra added another marker from Sasha Fields improving the score to 2-0 Statesmen. Adding to the attack, in the 9th minute Amanda-Grace Marshall pushed the Statesmen ahead 3-0 with the help of teammate Alexis Elrod. After 30 minutes of back and forth play, Amanda-Grace Marshall found the back of the net again, unassisted.

 

In the 40th minute, Sasha Fields knocked one between the pipes, followed by a Jennifer Argueta marker, and Gabriella Sylstra tally to close out the first half.

 

Leading 7-0 heading into the second half, the final tally of the day was by Candace Johnson in the 62nd minute of play.

 

Tiffany Hargett was credited with 1 save in the shutout win.

 

Richard Bland women's soccer next hosts Denmark Technical College, Tuesday October 5th, at 1pm. The Statesmen will be the away team.
