Fields Tallies 4 in Win Over Denmark Tech

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Women's Soccer team moves to 2-4 overall, and 2-2 in conference play after a conference matchup with Denmark Technical College this afternoon.

 

Starting the scoring early, Gabriella Sylstra found the back of the net off a corner by Alexis Elrod in the second minute of the game. In the 9th minute, Sasha Fields snatched a loose ball and added a tally herself on a breakaway play. The Statesmen led 2-0 until the 25th minute when Kamiah Stewart received a through ball pass from Gabriella Sylstra to make it 3-0 Statesmen. Adding her second marker on the day, Sasha Fields found the back of the net again from Amaya Stephens in the 37th minute. Less than 1 minute later, Gabriella Sylstra added her second tally of the day. Closing out the first half, Sasha Fields capitalized on the opponent's mistakes and added her 3rd goal on the day from Alexis Elrod.

 

Heading into the second half, ahead 6-0, the Statesmen were quick to add more fuel to the fire. Candace Johnson rocketed one between the pipes, followed by Jennifer Argueta adding her own in the 54th minute. Shortly after, Alexis Elrod and Amanda-Grace Marshall teamed up to make it 9-0 Statesmen. Jennifer Argueta added another tally with the help of teammate Sasha Fields, while Marshall and Fields added 1 each to round out the scoring on the day.

 

Tiffany Hargett was credited with 3 saves in the shutout win.
