Women's Soccer Falls in Semifinal Match

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Women's Soccer team finished the season at 5-7 overall and 4-5 in conference play after their loss in the Region X Semifinal match yesterday afternoon.

 

The Statesmen traveled to USC Lancaster for the matchup.

 

The Lancers were the first to get on the board in the 30th minute and the score would remain 1-0 Lancers through the first half. With momentum high heading into the second half, Sasha Fields put the Statesmen on the board off a pass from Margaret Young in the 47th minute. The Lancers tallied 4 straight goals following Fields' tally, to put the Lancers ahead 5-1. Gabriella Sylstra notched the final tally of the day in the 89th minute, but the Statesmen fell short, 5-2, in regulation.

 

Tiffany Hargett was credited with 9 saves on the day.

 

USC Lancaster moves on to play the winner of Spartanburg Methodist and USC Sumter, Saturday in the Championship game.
