Women’s Soccer Celebrates Sophomore Day

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College women's soccer team moves to 0-10-1 overall, 0-6 in conference play after hosting Cape Fear Community College Saturday afternoon. The Statesmen women's soccer program honored four sophomores; Rachel Fields, Amaris Viera, Angelina Finnerty, and Celissa Samora-Nixon, for their dedication and commitment to the program for the last two years.

 

The Sea Devils tallied in the 8th, 13th, 14th, 27th, and 44th minutes to take a 5-0 lead into the half. The Statesmen showed improvement defensively only allowing one goal against in the second half. Cape Fear would hold on for a 6-0 win in the final regular season game.

 

Rachel Fields made 13 saves on the day for Richard Bland. Fields is currently ranked

#2 in the NJCAA for 164 saves. Angelina Finnerty had two shots, one on goal, Alicia Powers had one shot on goal, and Gabriella Finnerty had one shot on the day.

 

The 4th seed, Richard Bland women's soccer team next travels to the 1st seed, Cape Fear Community College on Thursday, October 19th for the Region 10 Semifinals. Kickoff is set for 1:30pm.
