Women’s Soccer Celebrates Sophomore Day

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College women's soccer team moves to 0-10-1 overall, 0-6 in conference play after hosting Cape Fear Community College Saturday afternoon. The Statesmen women's soccer program honored four sophomores; Rachel Fields, Amaris Viera, Angelina Finnerty, and Celissa Samora-Nixon, for their dedication and commitment to the program for the last two years.

The Sea Devils tallied in the 8^th, 13^th, 14^th, 27^th, and 44^th minutes to take a 5-0 lead into the half. The Statesmen showed improvement defensively only allowing one goal against in the second half. Cape Fear would hold on for a 6-0 win in the final regular season game.

Rachel Fields made 13 saves on the day for Richard Bland. Fields is currently ranked

#2 in the NJCAA for 164 saves. Angelina Finnerty had two shots, one on goal, Alicia Powers had one shot on goal, and Gabriella Finnerty had one shot on the day.

The 4^th seed, Richard Bland women's soccer team next travels to the 1^st seed, Cape Fear Community College on Thursday, October 19^th for the Region 10 Semifinals. Kickoff is set for 1:30pm.
