Women’s Soccer Season Comes to Close in Region 10 Semifinals

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College women's soccer team closes the season at 0-11-1 overall after falling to the Sea Devils of Cape Fear Community College in the Region 10 Semifinal round Thursday afternoon.

 

The Statesmen showed improvement defensively and held the Sea Devils to an even, 0-0 battle through 21 minutes of play. Cape Fear found the back of the net in the 22nd, 30th, and 33rd minutes to take a 3-0 lead into the half. The Sea Devils added two more tallies in the second half. Richard Bland got on the board in the 89th minute on a free kick from Angelina Finnerty, where Gabriella Finnerty slotted the loose ball in behind the keeper. Cape Fear held on for a 5-1 win in the Region 10 Semifinals.

 

Rachel Fields made 18 saves on the day for Richard Bland. Fields closes the season ranked at

#2 in the NJCAA for saves, with 182. Angelina Finnerty had two shots on goal, while Gabriella Finnerty and Teagan Jackson added one each.
