Women's Soccer Places 6 on All-Region Team

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College Women's Soccer team finished the season in 4th place with a record of 0-11-1 overall after falling to Cape Fear Community College in the Region 10 Division II Semifinal contest Thursday afternoon. Prior to the start of the championship tournament, the women's soccer All-Region teams were announced.

 

Rachel Fields earned 1st team honors, Angelina Finnerty and Gabriella Finnerty earned 2nd team honors, and Teagan Jackson, Celissa Samora-Nixon, and Kimberlee Cobb earned 3rd team honors.

 

Sophomore, goalkeeper Rachel Fields started all 12 games played for the Statesmen. Fields posted 182 saves in 1080:00 minutes of action. She finished the season ranked #2 in the NJCAA for saves.

 

Sophomore, midfielder Angelina Finnerty started in 11 games played for the Statesmen. Finnerty tallied three goals and two assists for seven points. Finnerty was credited with 28 shots, 21 shots on goal for a .107 SH% and .750 SOG%.

 

Freshman, defender Gabriella Finnerty started all 12 games for the Statesmen. Finnerty was credited with two goals for four points. Finnerty had 11 shots, eight shots on goal for a .727 SOG%. She was a key component on the back line, assisting in multiple saves in front of the goal.

 

Sophomore, forward Celissa Samora-Nixon started all 12 games for the Statesmen. Samora-Nixon was credited with three shots, one on goal for a .333 SOG%.

 

Freshman, defender Teagan Jackson started 11 of 12 games played for the Statesmen. Jackson tallied one shot, one on goal, for a 1.000 SOG%. She was also a key component on the back line, assisting in clearing the ball out on many dangerous occasions in front of the goal.

 

Freshman, midfielder Kimberlee Cobb started all 10 games played for the Statesmen. Cobb assisted on multiple offensive attacks, and her energy in the midfield was essential when transitioning from offense to defense.
