Richard Bland Welcomes Regent University On Thursday At 6 p.m.

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College welcomes Regent University in women's volleyball action on Thursday evening, September 21, at 6 p.m. in Statesman Hall.  The first-year Statesmen program currently has a record of 0-5.  Regent is 0-1 and a member of the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association.

Scouting the Statesmen
Richard Bland is 0-5 overall following a 3-0 road setback at Region X member Pitt (N.C.) Community College on Sept. 18.  The Statesmen are coached by first-year head coach Scott Newton, and assisted by first-year assistant coach Immogen Worthington.

Richard Bland has been led by freshman Emma Eggleton/Chesterfield with a team-high 32 kills, 15 blocks, a team-high 33 digs and 10 assists.  She is followed by sophomore Alexis Lyons/Prince George with two kills, a team-high 16 blocks, six digs and a team-high 71 assists, along with freshmen Hollie Hill/Buchanan with 30 kills, 23 digs and one assist, and Cassi Jencik/Midlothian with 13 kills, 14 blocks, 10 digs and two assists.  Others contributing for the Statesmen include freshmen Taylor Laxton/Wakefield (seven kills, 10 blocks, two digs, one assist), Caitlin Stout/Dinwiddie (eight kills, two blocks, 14 digs, one assist), Kendall Clark/Virginia Beach (five kills, 25 digs, three assists) and Avery Munden/Chesterfield (three kills, 13 digs, one assist).  Clark leads the squad with five service aces, followed by Jencik (4) and Eggleton (3).

Series History
Richard Bland and Regent are meeting for the first time in the sport of women's volleyball.  A return contest against Regent is scheduled for Tuesday, October 10, at 6:30 p.m. in Virginia Beach.

Up Next
Richard Bland will travel to Hickory, North Carolina this weekend to participate in a tournament hosted by Region X member Catawba Valley Community College.  The Statesmen will open against the host Red Hawks on Friday, Sept. 22, at 12 p.m., immediately followed by a match against Louisburg (N.C.) College at 1:30 p.m.  Richard Bland will play two matches on Saturday, Sept. 23, as well, including against Wake Technical (N.C.) Community College at 9 a.m. and Guilford Technical (N.C.) Community College at 1:30 p.m.  Louisburg, Wake Tech and Guilford Tech are each members of Region X, as well.
