Richard Bland Falls To Wake Tech (N.C.) 3-0, Guilford Tech (N.C.) 3-2

HICKORY, N.C. -- Richard Bland College dropped a pair of women's volleyball matches at the Region X-travaganza Tournament hosted by Catawba Valley (N.C.) Community College on Saturday in Hickory, North Carolina.  The Statesmen (1-9) fell to Wake Technical (N.C.) Community College, 3-0, with set scores of 17-25, 18-25 and 14-25, before dropping a closely-played five-set match to Guilford Technical (N.C.) Community College, 3-2, with set scores of 27-25, 20-25, 25-19, 24-26 and 11-15.  Richard Bland will return home to play Lenoir (N.C.) Community College next Friday, September 29, at 6 p.m. in Statesman Hall.

Freshman Taylor Laxton/Wakefield led Richard Bland against Guilford Tech with 12 kills and two service aces, while sophomore Alexis Lyons/Prince George contributed 33 assists and freshman Cassi Jencik/Midlothian added six kills.

Laxton led the Statesmen against Wake Tech, as well, with six kills and two blocks, while freshman Hollie Hill/Buchanan added 14 digs and five kills.
