Richard Bland Welcomes Lenoir (N.C.) On Friday At 6 p.m.
SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- Richard Bland College welcomes Region X East Division member Lenoir (N.C.) Community College in women's volleyball action on Friday evening, September 29, at 6 p.m. in Statesman Hall. The first-year Statesmen program currently has a record of 1-9 overall, including a 1-1 mark at home this season. Lenoir has an overall record of 5-5, including 5-4 in Region X.

Scouting the Statesmen
Richard Bland is 1-9 overall following a hard-fought 3-2 setback (27-25, 20-25, 25-19, 24-26, 11-15) to Region X West Division member Guilford Tech (N.C.) on Sept. 23 at a tournament in Hickory, North Carolina. The Statesmen are coached by first-year head coach Scott Newton, and assisted by first-year assistant coach Immogen Worthington.
Richard Bland has been led by freshman Emma Eggleton/Chesterfield with a team-best 70 kills and 26 blocks, adding 57 digs and 42 assists. She is joined by sophomore Alexis Lyons/Prince George with a team-best 143 assists, adding 20 kills, 20 blocks and 56 digs, and freshman Kendall Clark/Virginia Beach with a team-best 114 digs and 12 service aces, adding eight kills and seven assists. Others include freshmen Hollie Hill/Buchanan (44 kills, 57 digs, one assist), Taylor Laxton/Wakefield (29 kills, 20 blocks, 19 digs, one assist), Cassi Jencik/Midlothian (26 kills, 25 blocks, 14 digs, two assists), this week's RBC Athlete of the Week Caitlin Stout/Dinwiddie (13 kills, five blocks, 85 digs, one assist) and Avery Munden/Chesterfield (seven kills, 38 digs, one assist). Eggleton, Lyons, Hill and Jencik each add five service aces, while Clark, Laxton and Jencik each have played in a team-best 33 sets.
Series History
Richard Bland and Lenoir are meeting for the first time in the sport of women's volleyball. A return contest at Lenoir is scheduled for Monday, October 16, at 6 p.m. in Kinston, North Carolina.

Richard Bland will experience a short turnaround with two contests scheduled on Saturday, Sept. 30, in North Carolina … including against Region X East Division member Cape Fear (N.C.) Community College at 11 a.m., followed by another versus Region X East Division member Bryant & Stratton College at 1 p.m. The matches against the unbeaten Sea Devils (11-0, 8-0 Region X), who received votes in this week's NJCAA Division II Poll, and the Bobcats will be played at Brunswick Community College in Bolivia, North Carolina. Following a break in their schedule, the Statesmen will play at Regent University on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 6:30 p.m. in Virginia Beach.
