Women’s Volleyball Earns Six Sweeps Over the Weekend

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The #10 Richard Bland College women's volleyball team moves to 13-3 overall after traveling to New Port Richey, Florida for the Pasco Hernando Tournament on Friday and Saturday, followed by a couple of matches at St. Johns River State College Sunday morning.

 

In match one on Friday, Richard Bland swept the Blue Devils of Kansas City Kansas Community College; 25-21, 25-20, and 25-23. Dryden Rancourt led the Statesmen attack with 18 kills. Rancourt also added 17 digs and three service aces for Richard Bland. Gabriella Figueroa had nine kills and one block. while Sarah Heath added 10 digs and seven kills. Alexis Scipione was credited with 31 assists, 10 digs, and two service aces in the win.

 

In match two on Friday, Richard Bland swept the Bobcats of Pasco-Hernando State College; 25-12, 25-23, and 25-20. Once again, Rancourt led the attack with 15 kills, followed by Heath with 10, and Figueroa with eight. Aubrey Hyndshaw and Jadyn Brown had three service aces each, and 13 and six digs respectively. Alexis Scipione was credited with 38 assists, nine digs, and two service aces, while Mikayla Mitchell added two blocks in the win.

 

In match one on Saturday, Richard Bland swept the Panthers of Morton College; 25-17, 25-14, and 26-24. Sarah Heath and Dryden Rancourt led the attack with 18 and 12 kills respectively. Heath also had one block in the win. Alexis Scipione was credited with 32 assists and 11 digs. Jadyn Brown and Aubrey Hyndshaw also added 11 and 10 digs for Richard Bland.

 

In match two on Saturday, Richard Bland swept the Fighting Tigers of Andrew College; 25-11, 25-11, and 25-7. The Statesmen attack was led by Heath with 13 kills and Mikayla Mitchell with nine. Alexis Scipione was credited with 32 assists and four service aces, and Aubrey Hyndshaw eight digs to lead the Statesmen.

 

In match one on Sunday, Richard Bland swept the Vikings of St. Johns River State College; 25-11, 25-16, and 25-23. Dryden Rancourt led with 18 kills and nine digs, while Sarah Heath had 11 digs and 10 kills. Alexis Scipione added 38 assists, 11 digs, and three service aces, while Aubrey Hyndshaw added 12 digs and two service aces.  

 

In match two on Sunday, Richard Bland swept the Panthers of Palm Beach State College; 25-23, 25-23, and 25-22. Sarah Heath led the Statesmen attack with 16 kills, followed by Leilani Goggin and Gabriella Figueroa with eight each. Heath also added 14 digs for Richard Bland. Alexis Scipione was credited with 38 assists and four digs, while Aubrey Hyndshaw chipped in with eight digs.

 

The Richard Bland women's volleyball team next travels to Wake Technical Community College on Wednesday, September 13th for a 6pm match.
