Women’s Volleyball Picks Up Four Wins Last Week

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The #9 Richard Bland College women's volleyball team moves to 28-6 overall, 10-1 in conference play after traveling to Bryant & Stratton College (VA) Wednesday evening, Louisburg College Friday evening, and Hosting Cape Fear Community College and Montgomery College (MD) Saturday afternoon.

 

On Wednesday, Richard Bland defeated the Bobcats 3-0 with set scores of 25-14, 25-6, and 25-13. Leilani Goggin and Sarah Heath led the attack with 16 and 14 kills. Jadyn Brown and Mikayla Mitchell added six kills each, while Marisa Dunnavant added four. Alexis Scipione was credited with 42 assists, six digs, and two service aces in the win. Heath added 11 digs, Goggin six, while Aubrey Hyndshaw tallied seven digs, five service aces, and two assists.

 

On Friday, Richard Bland defeated the Hurricanes 3-0 with set scores of 25-19, 25-7, and 25-11. Heath led the attack with 16 kills, and added seven digs, two service aces, and one assist. Goggin was credited with nine kills and eight digs. Alexis Scipione tallied 33 assists, three digs, and two service aces, while Aubrey Hyndshaw had six digs and six service aces in the win.

 

In match one on Saturday, Richard Bland defeated the Sea Devils 3-2 with set scores of 25-21, 25-12, 23-25, 23-25, and 15-8. Once again, Heath and Goggin led the attack with 22 and 16 kills respectively. Jadyn Brown pitched in with 12 and Mikayla Mitchell seven. Alexis Scipione tallied 56 assists, 13 digs, and three service aces in the win. Heath was also credited with 17 digs, Brown and Hyndshaw 12 each, and Goggin 11.

 

In match two on Saturday, Richard Bland defeated the Raptors 3-0 with set scores of 25-13, 25-11, and 25-14. Goggin led the attack with 12 kills, followed by Brown and Heath with 10 each. Alexis Scipione tallied 25 assists and nine digs while Hyndshaw was credited with nine digs and six assists for the Statesmen.

 

Prior to the second match of the day on Saturday, the women's volleyball program honored their seven sophomores for their commitment and dedication to the program. Those honored were Marisa Dunnavant, Jadyn Brown, Leilani Goggin, Georgia Alexander, Sarah Heath, Jordan Schlageter, and team manager Morgan Green.

 

The Richard Bland women's volleyball team next travels to Fayetteville Tech for the Region 10 Tournament on Friday, October 27th and Saturday, October 28th. The #2 seeded Statesmen await their first opponent, which will be the winner between #7 Pitt Community College and #10 Fayetteville Tech. Richard Bland's first match will take place at 4pm on the 27th.
